If you’re feeling cooped up in your home, bored or stressed beyond belief, missing all those great and beautiful North Fork landmarks, Jake Rose has created something to help you get through these times — a free downloadable coloring book.
“It is my hope that this small gesture helps my fellow North Forkers and New Yorkers and brings a bit of enjoyment and relaxation to people stuck at home,” said Rose, the author and publisher of Color Our Town Press.
“Color North Fork While You Are Stuck Inside” is a collection of North Fork landmarks put together by Rose, along with various other artists who contributed. Think the Greenport Carousel, the Suffolk Theater, Briermere Farms and more, all in one coloring book.
“My books are designed not only for coloring but also as guidebooks, which celebrate the local landmarks and interesting locales,” Rose said. “My favorite part of creating the books is the research — interviewing friends, store owners, librarians, historians, local artists and just the cool people who hang out at the local bars and diners.”
This free, available online coloring book is one that includes illustrations from his other North Fork collections: Color Greenport, Color Riverhead and Color North Fork. Rose has authored a total of 22 coloring books, all published by his company Color Our Town Press, including two books on Washington D.C., five books on the Hamptons and seven on New York City.
“In these challenging times, I wanted to do something to help others,” Rose said. “People are cooped up for days on end. I wanted to provide some creative, non-screen activity for people to enjoy.”
